New Handbuilding with Clay
Ceramics - Handbuilding with Clay offers a range of classes, allowing you to pick and choose from a variety of options and hand forming techniques. Each session will be a complete lesson and will focus on a different theme each time. Classes will be available at flexible times which suit you, so you can add the finishing touches to your work at your own pace before the glazing class.
Of course, I will be adhering to social distancing protocols so this means a maximum of three students only in the studio at one time, unless you are from the same household. "One student only" private lessons will also be available, if this is your preference. Such small class sizes provide plenty of opportunity for individual attention throughout the session.
As each student will work with separate sets of tools in class, I have a range of brand new clay tool and equipment kits for hire or purchase, or if you already have your own please feel free to bring them. Having the ability to take the tools home also means you can continue to work on your piece at home, if you have room.
So join me for fun sessions where you can unwind from everyday stresses, get your hands into some gorgeous clay and create something that you'll treasure forever. Don’t come to just one!
Choose from functional ware including bowls, plates, mugs, planters and bells or how about a sculpture or even a class in ceramics tricks and tips?

Ceramics tips and tricks.
After all that hard work, ceramics doesn't always turn out as expected - clay is a fickle material and sometimes has a mind of its own! This class is perfect for learning about drying your work, preparing your greenware for the kiln and the prevention and repair of faults to give your pre-fired work the best chance at success in the firing process.
Damp Box making.
Have you started a ceramic project and then needed to take a break but didn't want your work to dry out? In this class you will create your own damp box that keeps your work from drying out for as long as you need.
All of the classes are suitable for beginners as well as those who have had some experience with clay. Students will be required to take their work home with them at the end of each session.

Very enjoyable. Carolyn was helpful and generous with her knowledge.
We thoroughly enjoyed weekly casual ceramics classes with Carolyn as it was fun and an enjoyable/interesting recreational activity where we could bond with our family. Carolyn is a very accommodating and encouraging facilitator.
I really loved the two week introduction to hand building with clay! It has provided me with opportunities to be creative in a way that I haven’t before and has sparked a real interest in pottery.
