Observational Drawing for fun and folio - Adults

Each week will focus on a different method using a range of drawing and painting tools. Students will work from a different still life scene each week.

After 8 weeks the students will have tried a range of mediums and methods and have a diverse range of folio work.

Students will explore drawing with charcoal, ink, markers, oil and soft pastels and acrylic paint. 4 classes will focus on charcoal, exploring different techniques in still life. Methods include drawing with the eraser, working into wet charcoal, combining with ink and soft pastel and techniques that enhance expression, movement, tone and perspective. 4 classes will focus on layering with markers, inks, pastels and acrylic to create a dynamic and vibrant artwork. Students will learn which mediums can be applied together and basic colour theory. Students will also receive information about type and quality of mediums and papers.

By the end of the course students will have created a strong folio suitable for applying for further study or to broaden their current artistic practice. These classes are for those with little to no drawing experience through to advanced and will be a fun, welcoming, friendly, supportive environment to try new things.

All materials supplied. Recommended that those attending single sessions purchase an A4 sketchbook.
